Summary of Hosea 2:2-13

Israel/Gomer is unfaithful to God. God then withdraws His blessings upon her/His people. He promised to punish her for her unfaithfulness. Hosea’s rebuke of Gomer pictures God’s judgment of Israel.

Questions for Hosea 2:2-13

6) Gomer and Israel would suffer: God’s harsh rebuke, Gomer would be stripped naked without blessings. Her children would be rejected by Hosea. She would not find any more lovers. Her path would be blocked. All festivals would end. Wild animals would devour vines and fig trees. Both would be punished by God.

7) God takes sin incredibly seriously. He punishes when we sin, but still redeems. Sin separates us from God, but only temporarily until we ask for forgiveness and come to Him.

8 ) The image of adultery makes me take my small sins much more seriously since adultery is such a big sin in my view. All sin is equal in God’s eyes, but not necessarily in our own.

Conclusions to WordGo’s Study of Hosea 2:2-13

God is always faithful even though we sometimes are not. Sin only leads to emptiness and a feeling of not going anywhere fast. God is our provider, our salvation, our hope. When we trust Him, everything else falls into place.
